Fault Management System (FMS) has been successfully supporting the UK Rail infrastructure since early 2000 on the management, investigation and resolution of ALL infrastructure faults and incidents that occur across the rail network.  FMS provides data and defects on all disciplines asset types including track, signaling, overhead lines, power, and off-track works to ensure a speedy and safe recovery of service. FMS supports the management and maintenance of infrastructure assets within a geographical area, and ensures Network Rail teams have the necessary real–time information to analyse fault data on all assets to optimise infrastructure performance and improve efficiency across the railway network.

RTS Solutions developed and delivered a real-time web-based system through understanding the operational and business processes in use within the Network Rail environment.   Our system provides data in supporting the end-to-end processes, integrates with the communications and mobile platforms.  It provides all necessary audit trails and standard reporting that assists Network Rail in achieving targeted improvements by identifying crucial defects or 'hot spots' and by formalising the root cause analysis process.

FMS is currently used within ten Integrated Control Centres within Network Rail, strategically placed around the UK, with all fault and incident data being transferred into a central hub for corporate reporting, monitoring and analysis. It currently deals with over 5000 faults and incidents reported per month per area.

FMS forms part of a suite of modular products and can work as a stand alone module or linked to other RTS Solutions products such as: RMS, WIMS and EAMS.
